Group Sharpening Workshop (Whetstone)

The knowledge you need to find success. Take-home kit & instructions included!

  • 250 Canadian dollars
  • AZCK Educational Shop

Service Description

Our goal is to teach you the theory and skills that will help you feel confident in safely sharpening and maintaining your own cutting tools. In this 3-4 hour intensive class, we will explain the differences between popular sharpening tools and techniques that are on the market today and educate you which methods are appropriate for specific applications. The practical application of this workshop will be learning to utilize a whetstone system. Worried about damaging your knives? Don't be - that is exactly the purpose of this class. You will be provided with a full take-home kit valued at $100 as well as a syllabus (instructions) you can revisit later. All you need to bring is a knife to practice with. We recommend bringing a kitchen knife with a deeper blade that is about 6"- 8”. Narrow styles like boning or utility knives are often not the best place to start as it can be trickier to set the correct angle and apply the proper technique. If you aren’t sure what to choose, bring all of your options and we will help you make the right choice. Also, feel free to bring anything you are challenged by or have questions about! This is a great class for anyone who loves sharp blades and has the desire to properly maintain them at home. If you have had challenges finding success in the past, we will help you discover why and teach you what you need to know to avoid those challenges in the future. We make sure every single student leaves with their questions answered and a VERY sharp knife.
