Service Description

This class will offer you the most creativity and flexibility. Choose one of our signature styles or design your own project and Alessio will guide you step-by-step through the entire stock-removal process of making your own knife. Basic materials and PPE are included. Upgrade lists for materials (knife blanks, steels, handle materials and hardware) will be provided so you can fully customize and personalize your knife (if you wish). Please note, knife making with us is a stock removal process ONLY. With our educational programs, we keep knife making and blacksmithing separate to minimize variables and better ensure a successful outcome for your finished product. The failure rate with forging knives is high, particularly for new students, and we want to ensure that you finish your course with a functional knife you can actually use. Why a private class? Learn all the tips and tricks while creating your own unique vision. One-on-one classes present increased opportunities to learn more and allow your instructor to stop or redirect you before making a mistake that will cost time, can’t be fixed, or doing something that may result in injury. You will have Alessio’s undivided attention the entire time to answer your questions, share his knowledge, and observe, guide, and redirect you as you go. All one-on-one classes require a pre-scheduled preliminary meeting with you and your instructor prior to your scheduled course. In this meeting, you will choose materials and decide on a plan of action with Alessio. This ensures precious time is not wasted on the day of the class; when you arrive, you can get started right away and feel confident that your instructor understands the experience you are looking for and has a clear idea of your goals regarding timeframe, aesthetic, and overall finish. If possible, we recommend bringing a physical rendering of your project’s inspiration to this meeting: this can be photos or drawings – something to help convey your vision to him. Please note: We always do our best to help students finish their knife within their desired timeframe - but some projects take more time, some students need a bit more help, and as we all know, sometimes makers (new and old) can run into challenges they had hoped to avoid. If more time is needed to complete a project, we will have an open conversation and formulate a plan to move forward. Our ultimate goal is your success and most importantly, that you have fun along the way!

Cancellation Policy

Please be aware that we rely on our classes, courses and workshops being attended when you are scheduled in. Last-minute cancellations and the loss of revenue associated with those create drastic challenges for us. Despite our wishes, we must implement cancellation/no-show policies that provide an incentive for students to attend their scheduled courses and registered events, as well as prevents our small company from dealing with frequent loss of revenue. Thank you kindly for your grace and understanding in this situation. CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL SCHEDULED CLASSES: We require 7 days (1 week) of notice if the student is unable to make their scheduled class. In the event of cancellation or no-show on the part of the student (due to no fault of ours) we reserve the right to keep 50% of the value of the course. The remaining 50% may be used as a credit towards a future course or workshop OR as credit towards retail items in our store. The gift certificate for the service must be used in its entirety by the expiration date listed on the certificate or in the promotion. In the event of a cancellation on our part (due only to severe illness, an accident, or emergency) we will do our best to reschedule the class in a timely manner and strive to do right by any student impacted by the cancellation. We vow to always communicate any scheduling changes as quickly and clearly as possible.
