3 Person - 1/2 Day Knife Making Class

Service Description

In these group classes, the student will arrive for their class and choose a heat-treated knife blank (the shape of the knife has already been cut out) made of 1084 steel. They will be provided with the knife blank, a selection of basic handle materials to choose from and all the tools, equipment and supplies needed to complete their project. This includes individual workspaces featuring top-of-the-line 72” belt grinders. When help is needed, students are always able to go ask the blacksmith. If the student wishes to upgrade their steel, they must purchase an upgraded knife blank. There will be no preliminary meetings unless otherwise arranged. Group classes are not best for or recommended for beginners as they require much more self-direction and there is limited supervision from the instructor. Previous shop experience is an asset when it comes to using tools/operating equipment. Group classes can also be utilized for one-on-one students who wish to book more time to complete or continue working more independently on a project. Please note: We always do our best to help students finish their knife within their desired timeframe - but some projects take more time, some students need a bit more help, and as we all know, sometimes makers and blacksmiths (new and old) can run into challenges they had hoped to avoid. If more time is needed to complete a project, we will have an open conversation and formulate a plan to help them move forward.

Cancellation Policy

Please be aware that we rely on our courses being attended. Last-minute cancellations and the loss of revenue associated with those create drastic challenges for us. Despite our wishes, we must implement a system and cancellation policy that provides an incentive to attend scheduled courses as well as prevents our company from dealing with frequent loss of revenue. Thank you kindly for your grace and understanding in this situation. In the event of a cancellation due to no fault of ours, we reserve the right to keep half of the cost of the cancelled course unless the course has been cancelled 7 or more days prior to the date of the scheduled course. If the course was paid for beforehand, the remainder of the course cost will be credited towards the rescheduled course. In the event the course was unpaid at the time of cancellation, half of the cost will be billed to the client. We promise to do our absolute best to clearly communicate any scheduling changes on our end and to reschedule as promptly as is reasonably possible.
