Service Description

Have you always wanted to learn how to forge? Or do you want to expand on your current skillset? Choose your project AND your focus while having free reign of the forge. Basic materials are included, and you will have the blacksmith’s undivided attention the entire time. Our Swiss Journeyman Artistic Blacksmith, Alessio, will teach you the foundational skills of forging: this includes body position and form when working at the anvil, how to move between the forge and anvil, plus effective techniques for manipulating steel while using tools safely and correctly. Aside from having fun, the most important thing is learning skills that will minimize potential injury and help maximize your efficiency. We encourage you to come with at least one idea for your potential project. Examples would be a railroad spike knife, fire poker, BBQ tools, letter opener, coat hooks, dinner bells, keychains, etc. Not sure what you want to make? We’re always happy to give feedback or help guide you in the right direction. Why a private class? A one-on-one experience presents more opportunities to better learn and practice foundational skills before developing ‘bad’ habits that may result in injury. Plus, you won't have an audience! The blacksmith will have more opportunities to answer questions, share his knowledge + observe, guide, and redirect you. As always, the most important thing is to have fun! We welcome almost any age and ability. No previous experience required.

Cancellation Policy

Please be aware that we rely on our classes, courses and workshops being attended when you are scheduled in. Last-minute cancellations and the loss of revenue associated with those create drastic challenges for us. Despite our wishes, we must implement cancellation/no-show policies that provide an incentive for students to attend their scheduled courses and registered events, as well as prevents our small company from dealing with frequent loss of revenue. Thank you kindly for your grace and understanding in this situation. CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL SCHEDULED CLASSES: We require 7 days (1 week) of notice if the student is unable to make their scheduled class. In the event of cancellation or no-show on the part of the student (due to no fault of ours) we reserve the right to keep 50% of the value of the course. The remaining 50% may be used as a credit towards a future course or workshop OR as credit towards retail items in our store. The gift certificate for the service must be used in its entirety by the expiration date listed on the certificate or in the promotion. In the event of a cancellation on our part (due only to severe illness, an accident, or emergency) we will do our best to reschedule the class in a timely manner and strive to do right by any student impacted by the cancellation. We vow to always communicate any scheduling changes as quickly and clearly as possible.
