Service Description

This class offers the most creativity and flexibility. Upgrade lists for knife blanks, steel, handle materials and hardware will be provided so the student can fully customize and personalize their knife. The student will be able to choose their project + have the blacksmith’s undivided attention while completing it. A one-on-one class presents more options to better learn and practice foundational skills before developing ‘bad’ habits that may result in injury or making mistakes that cannot be fixed. The blacksmith will have more opportunity to answer questions, share knowledge + observe, guide, and redirect the student. All one-on-one classes require a mandatory pre-scheduled preliminary meeting between the student & blacksmith prior to their scheduled class. If possible, we recommend bringing a physical rendering of the project’s inspiration to this meeting: this can be photos or drawings – something to convey the student’s vision to the blacksmith. In this meeting, the student will choose materials and decide on a plan of action with the blacksmith. This ensures precious time is not wasted on the day of the class; the student can get started right away upon arrival and feel confident that the blacksmith understands the experience they are looking for and has a clear idea of the goal they are working towards regarding timeframe, aesthetic, and overall finish. Please note: We always do our best to help students finish their knife within their desired timeframe - but some projects take more time, some students need a bit more help, and as we all know, sometimes makers and blacksmiths (new and old) can run into challenges they had hoped to avoid. If more time is needed to complete a project, we will have an open conversation and formulate a plan to help them move forward.

Cancelation Policy

Please be aware that we rely on our courses being attended. Last-minute cancellations and the loss of revenue associated with those create drastic challenges for us. Despite our wishes, we must implement a system and cancellation policy that provides an incentive to attend scheduled courses as well as prevents our company from dealing with frequent loss of revenue. Thank you kindly for your grace and understanding in this situation. In the event of a cancellation due to no fault of ours, we reserve the right to keep half of the cost of the cancelled course unless the course has been cancelled 7 or more days prior to the date of the scheduled course. If the course was paid for beforehand, the remainder of the course cost will be credited towards the rescheduled course. In the event the course was unpaid at the time of cancellation, half of the cost will be billed to the client. We promise to do our absolute best to clearly communicate any scheduling changes on our end and to reschedule as promptly as is reasonably possible.
